Laying Down the Fabric Strips

Slow but Steady

Laying Down the Strips

I’m slowly laying down strips of the fabric I chose for this project. I’m doing this by hand. Sew with rights sides together, then flip over, and iron.

I did fussy cut the little flower and sew it down, leaving the edges raw. Since this is going to be a wall hanging, I’m not worried about it fraying too much. In fact, I may put this piece in a frame rather than create a traditional wall hanging, but I haven’t made up my mind. It may not be frame-worthy. I never know if an experiment will turn out well.

Looking for Embellishments

I have beads and newly purchased embroidery thread, but much in the way of ribbons or lace. However in my search of my rather disorganized sewing room, I came across these decorative wooden discs that my mom purchased for a project she had. They are about 2 inches in diameter and have two holes in the center like a button. I think one of them will work.

So here’s where I am for this week.

Dog Surgery

I am not moving too quickly on anything due to caring for this little guy. Over time, he injured his back (likely due to jumping off the furniture) and ended up with a herniated disc. The vet tried to treat him with meds, but when he started dragging his back feet, surgery was the best option.

How has your week been?
